CULOTTES, STYLING THEM IN WINTER

how to style culottes in winter

Not everyone is a fan, but for me culottes are the chicest thing we’ve seen in years. I wear them in spring and summer, but never really thought about transitioning them into autumn/winter. That is… until I saw Mrs. Beckham rocking a pair with heeled boots.

So naturally I’ve been all over Pinterest. Looking to see how people are rocking their culottes and falling head over heels (pun intended) with the silhouette. I’m not much of a heels kind-a-girl, but in winter I wear heeled ankle boots quite often. Since I’m short, culottes don’t tend to look good on me when I wear them with flat shoes. They’re so comfortable that I don’t care, but there’s no doubt that I can pull them off better with heeled boots.

What I love about these photos are the different textures these trousers come in. When they first came out, they were mostly made out of thin and flimsy material. Now you can even get them in denim and (p)leather; I love it!

HOW TO PULL IT OFF

Looking at these pictures I think your boots have to be quite tight on the ankle, to not make it look too heavy. And I think for me, personally, it will look best when there’s no skin showing.

GET MORE OUT OF WHAT YOU OWN

Honestly, when I see things like this, I get really inspired to try and experiment more with my existing clothes. Instead of going shopping, why not dive into your closet and come up with ways to get more use out of the clothes you already own? I going to write a blogpost on hacks I know and use, so stay tuned for that!

Are there items in your wardrobe that you wear in an unconventional way? And I’m curious… will you be wearing culottes this winter?
